Large shrubs can be pruned and trained into tree formation. We have listed shrubs and trees together in one group to save confusion, ground covers and creepers are listed separately.
Trees that flower will encourage colourful birds into the garden with the added bonus of helping to control some of the insect pests,
Shrubs make great hardy wind breaks for all sorts of positions.
Ground Covers help to conserve water, choke weeds and help keep the dust down.
Climbers can be used as groundcovers, covering unsightly sheds and fences or even growing up posts.

These plants give pleasure to the older generation right down to young children. People who are confined to a wheelchair will find these plants give them hours of enjoyment by creating a miniature garden in pots.
One of the best values in growing Cactus or Succulents is that they do not need a lot of precious water or attention like most plants need.

ROSES
Roses are available open-rooted from June to August, after which they are potted up into containers and should be ready for sale from late September onwards. Before calling into any Garden Centre it may be wise to ring and check if the varieties you are requiring are available. This will certainly save you valuable time and much disappointment in the long run! | |
SEEDLINGS
Times have changed from the old days where you could go into a nursery and buy a bundle of seedlings for a few pence and rush home and plant them out before they died. With the aid of a plastic punnet your seedlings will stay alive for weeks if watered regularly. Do not forget to use snail bait when slugs and snails are active. |
