 fact sheets - Watering Systems
WATERING WITH A DRIPPER SYSTEM

It is essential that every garden should have one.
The system can be arranged around the garden by yourself or a professional firm, depending on how sophisticated you want the system to be.
Simple systems can be connected straight onto a tap. To make life a bit easier you just need to add a simple clockwork timer. From then on there is a huge array of electronic controllers to choose from to meet your demands.

WHY USE A DRIP SYSTEM
Standing in the garden for hours holding a hose in your hand is certainly a deed of the past.
Most times we tend to go into a dream world and let the water run across the garden, down the path and into a drain.
During the hot weather we come inside like a red bottle of sauce after we have finished and wonder if gardening is worth all the trouble. Then there is the trouble of going out into the garden and shifting sprinklers around every certain time. This can become a hassle when you need time out to enjoy some of your spare time.
A drip watering system connected to a tap timer or an automatic watering system can give you more time to enjoy the garden, whether it be working in it or just plain relaxing sitting on a chair with your feet up reading a book.

TROUBLE PUSHING THE DRIPPER INTO THE POLY PIPE?DRIP SYSTEM Old style
Inserting one or two drip adaptors into poly pipe tubing may be hard on the hands, especially during the cold winter months, but when it is a few hours of non stop work it becomes excruciating pain with continual use. If the dripper adaptor slips when trying to insert into poly pipe, you may end up with a hole in your hand or a nasty bruise.
One of the main problems during the cooler months when the pipe has hardened the hole is sometimes made larger with struggling to insert the punch or the adaptor. During the warmer months the pipe is soft and hard to penetrate and in some cases the hole can be made larger. Quite often the joint will leak or after a time the insert may blow out.

EZY-SQUEEZEIE DRIPPA CLIPPA is a product available that can make this job more enjoyable, quicker, safer and easy to accomplish.

We have listed a selection of plants that you might like to try.

It is very hard to soak water deeply into the soil around the plant's root system when the water keeps on running away across the top of the ground surface.
GREENWELL - WATER SAVER
Greenwell is the gardener's answer to water saving and healthy new trees and shrubs. The design looks like a top section of a compost bin. The top diameter - 430mm, base - 495mm, height - 190mm. First the tree or shrub is planted into the ground and staked. Next the Greenwell is placed around the tree.GREENWELL
The Greenwell has a special water proof join in the side allowing the ring to be pulled apart and joined together again after being placed around trees or shrubs. With the Greenwell placed around the base of the new plant and the sides pushed into the ground to a depth of three to four inches, the container can now be filled with water.
The Greenwell directs the water and fertiliser down into the soil to the root zone. The deep sides hold 26 litres of water, thus eliminating water run-off. During the Winter months it will prevent water lying around the root zone. Ideal for trees planted in Lawns or for growing Tomatoes in a small back yard where there is only lawn.GREENWELL closeup
This is a must for every good gardener who wants their new trees and shrubs to grow healthy and strong. One of the best and most important garden inventions I have seen for a long time. I highly recommend you try one today!
POINTS OF INTEREST
Greenwell stops the scatter of mulch and fertilizer all over the garden by wind, rain or birds, particularly blackbirds. It is easily installed and repositioned at any time. This product can be very easily moved from the old established tree to the new tree which has just been planted. It is unique because the Greenwell tree-protecting circle is easily opened and closed; therefore it can be placed around a tree at time of planting, or, a tree that has been planted some time ago. This is a very versatile product. Placed around the base of trees or shrubs it will keep lawn or grass away from tree trunks.
A drip system can also be attached, by drilling a small hole in the top of the Greenwell?s side and pushing a micro-tube through. Next attach the dripper onto the tube poking through on the inside.
