CHEMICALS IN THE GARDEN
This section is designed to help you become aware of the hazards in the home and garden. Tips and reminders when handling powders and wet chemicals.
In most home garden situations, the use of chemicals should be limited.
Only mix enough for the one job so that you do not have to dispose of excess.
When you use weed killers and insecticides, be sure to lock them away out of reach of children. Keep them in their correct containers making sure that the labels are intact and can be clearly read.
Avoid at all cost transferring chemicals to a different vessel, especially a container that look like drink container.
When using hazardous chemicals always wear protective clothing, a mask to ensure all body parts are covered and only spray on a calm windless day.
LIQUIDS
Read the directions carefully before opening the container and be careful when pouring out liquids from their container not to spill them. If you do, soak up the liquid with kitty litter, dry sawdust or even some potting soil, but dispose of the contaminated material in the proper manner.
POWDERS
When using powder substances, mix the right amount with a small quantity of water in a small container blending it into a thin liquid paste and then intermixing it with the correct amount of water.
