AFRICAN VIOLET SOCIETY OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA INC.

The Society meets every third Thursday in the month (except December) at 10.00 am at:- The Western Youth Centre. 79 Marion Road, COWANDILLA.

Visitors are always welcome to come along.

THEIR MEETINGS INCLUDE.
Monthly Show Bench. Talks on Culture of African Violets.
Sale of plants, sales of potting mix, fertiliser, pots and other related growing aids for African Violets.
Meeting their Violet Friendly Members.

This is a friendly dedicated society made up with a group of people of all ages.
Visitors of all ages are always welcome to come and see exhibition plants and plants for sale.
Have a look at their library books and meet people who have a passion for Cactus and Succulents.

MEETINGS- are held on the third Friday of the month. 7.45 pm to 9.30 pm, at The Western Youth Centre. 79 Marion Rd, COWANDILLA. Door prize. Coffee or tea (and a biscuit)is available for twenty cents, served in the kitchen.

MEETINGS- on the fourth Friday of each month except December at the Adelaide High School on West Terrace(Cnr Hilton Road)Adelaide.
Fern sales begin at 7.20 pm, raffle tickets, new books and spore sales and an extensive fern library are available free to members. A microscope is available with a sample of fern fronds to view, or you can bring your own. The display table of members ferns is for all to see. Meetings start at 8.00pm. They include, a guest speaker or a fern work shop plus the display table commentary. Supper is provided. Visitors are most welcome to the meetings where our Host/Hostess will meet you at the entrance to explain our meeting.

MEETINGS
Meetings are held at "The Cosy Nook", corner of Wellington and Victoria Streets, Klemzig on the first Monday of each month commencing at 7.45 pm. (EXCEPT FOR JANUARY)

  • Discussion on Begonia types / identification

  • MEMBER PARTICIPATION
    Members are encouraged to join in meeting discussions about Begonia growing and culture problems and to display their best Begonias on the display table.
    Speakers. A variety of speakers attend our monthly meetings to talk about specific plants, Begonia maintenance and other issues of interest.
    Autumn Show. The Society stages and Annual Autumn Show. Members are encouraged to compete in several categories.
    Study Group. There is an active group which meets regularly at members' homes.
    Garden Visits. Visits to members' gardens and other places of interest are arranged from time to time.
    Trading Table. Members may buy and sell plants at the trading table in the half hour prior to the meeting.
    Newsletter. An informative newsletter is mailed out prior to meetings to all financial members.
    Library. A comprehensive library of Begonia books is available to members. Books and articles held in the library may be borrowed by members at no cost.
    Visitors. Visitors are welcome to attend meetings on a casual basis to observe or hear a particular speaker.
    Aims of the Society. To stimulate and promote interest in Begonias. To gather and publish information in regard to varieties, propagation and culture of Begonias.
    To assist in the production of a Journal which is distributed to all members of the Society. To bring into friendly contact all who grow and enjoy Begonias.

    Affiliation. The SA Begonia Society is affiliated with the Association of Australian Begonia Societies. This association publishes a quarterly journal Begonia Australis which is posted direct to all members

    Meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month (February - November inclusive) at Goodwood Community Centre, 32-34 Rosa St, Goodwood at 7:00pm.
    Meetings include guest speakers, trading table, access to the society's library of books and videos, raffle, flower displays, and supper. Visitors are welcome.
